At Griffin Custom Racecraft, we exclusively use 4130 chromoly tubing in all of our roll bars and cages. All of our welding on the tubing is done using a TIG process. We just don't feel it is worth the difference in cost to use a less expensive mild steel. And we prefer the precision of the TIG process over the often used MIG process. The only exceptions to doing a mild steel cage, is on off road truck use, where they are more likely to need replacements done. For this reason we may not be the cheapest shop in town. However, is your safety really where you want to save money? Also consider the value of your vehicle. We all put so much time and money into our cars. Do you really want a slap it in, generic, kit type of roll cage or a custom fitted chromoly cage done by a proffessional who treats every car like his own.
